You can find them in the following locations:. Fortunately, the room that we are trapped in has a doorframe that will allow you to take out the two enemies in cover ahead and the soldier on the roof to the left quite comfortably, whilst the window here also overlooks the area leading to the Base Camp below.
Kill as many enemies as you can from range from the room here before venturing out to mop up any survivors. Climb the stairs beside the camp fire once again and squeeze through the crack in the wall at the top.
This time around, the trippy-ness won't kick in, so follow the set route through the initial area until you reach the forest.
As you arrive, you'll be able to go left or right. Head to the left first and follow the path until you reach a dead end.
Backtrack to the entrance and this time take the right hand path. Continue through the crack in the wall just behind these. Follow the snowy path down the slope to the right.
Keep moving until you reach a wooden platform overlooking the dry riverbed we fought the wolves in earlier. You should also loot the wolves you killed earlier if you want to of course.
Pull down the pair of rope barriers on either side of the area to reveal a pair of scalable walls. Now let's inspect the room.
Return back outside and back to the entrance to get down to business. With the cliff we climbed up to our back, check out the environmental objects ahead.
Directly in front of you there is a rope spool with a lever mechanism on the side. Beside this there is a Rope pillar. On the opposite side of the water ahead you'll see a pair of platforms and above these a second rope spool which will control the platforms movements.
Stand behind the rope spool closest to the entrance and shoot the second rope spool above the platforms with a Rope Arrow to connect them. Move to the side and use your pickaxe on the lever mechanism to rotate the spools so that the right hand platform is higher than the left.
When it is in position, quickly detach from the lever, move to the rope pillar nearby and shoot the rope spool above the platforms once again.
This will anchor them in place. Make your way over to the hanging platforms we just manipulated and use them to access the upper ledge in the far right corner from our initial entry point.
There is a third rope spool here. Return to the third rope spool and stand behind it. From here, if you look directly across the room you should be able to make out yet another rope spool through a gap.
Shoot a Rope Arrow to connect the two. This will allow us to manipulate another platform located on the opposite wall, but there's no point doing it just yet.
Instead, drop down into the water below and approach the first rope spool. Cut the rope anchoring it to the rope pillar here to return the platforms to their original positions.
Use the pair of spools to reposition the platforms so that they are more or less in line with one another and anchor them in place using the rope pillar once again.
Move onto the raised platform in the centre of the water and jump to the rope connecting the third and fourth rope spools. Climb it up to the upper ledge on the right.
Use the wheel mechanism on the side of the rope spool here to raise the platform opposite to its highest level.
Release the mechanism when the platform is in position and use the hanging platforms to our right to access the ledge opposite.
Quickly run over to the raised platform before it falls and from here jump and scramble up to the ledge above it.
Note: Throughout this next part of the region, there is an area challenge 'Over the Cuckoo's Nest'. This requires us to find and destroy Hanging Lanterns located around the area.
They are listed in the guide below, but you'll want to keep your eyes peeled as they can be quite difficult to spot! Following the cut-scene, hop aboard the gondola and shoot the roped up lever once again to have the gondola start moving back the way it came.
Once the ride starts moving move to the front. They can be found in the following locations:. Once you have arrived via gondola on the far side of the valley, don't dismount just yet.
Instead, look for the nearby waterfall — you should be able to spot some torches behind it. Hop off the gondola and climb the wooden ramp to the right.
It's a good idea to stock up, we'll be needing it very shortly. Climb down the stairs here and before long you'll be deposited in a pool of water below.
Swim until you reach a large room with a platform you can climb up on. Do so for a scene. This fight looks and feels tricky at first but is actually pretty easy once you get the hang of it.
It is similar to the fight with the helicopter near the end of the main game as your main adversary is a flying enemy who will throw fiery projectiles at you and occasionally she'll summon zombie warriors to attack you.
Fortunately, if you shoot the witch, she'll duck down for a few seconds, giving you some breathing room before she starts raining fire again.
The witch sits on a hovering platform with a roped up section at the bottom. Around the room there is a pair of vats seeping gas with trigger levers top open them up with explosive results and spinning rope spools behind them.
Remember the puzzle we solved earlier using these exact same elements? Well we pretty much need to replicate it here whilst dodging fireballs!
To damage the Witch, we'll need to stand by a rope spool and shoot her flying platform with a Rope Arrow to connect them. The spinning spool will draw her towards the vat.
As she approaches, hit the trigger mechanism to unleash an explosive blast which will hurt her. The Witch will be able to cut herself loose if she hits the rope she's connected to too much, so be sure to shoot her to have her hide as she approaches the vat and hit the lever before as soon as she's in range to avoid having to repeat the process.
We'll need to do this twice to complete the first part of the encounter. The two vats that we need to utilize are slightly different, one has the trigger lever by its side, whilst the second trigger lever is on an adjacent platform but the tactic remains the same for both.
From experience, I found it easier to start with the vat with the separated lever first and then the close up lever second.
The enemies that the Witch summons during the fight usually come in groups of three, featuring two ranged and a single melee attacker.
As you need to focus on your aim and timing when damaging the witch, you'll want to drop what you are doing and immediately focus on getting the additional enemies down as quickly as possible when they appear before refocusing your attention on the boss.
After damaging her twice, it feels much less like a boss fight and more a platforming and third-person shooter with the occasional attack on the Witch using vats thrown in for good measure.
The water level in the room will rise. Quickly swim over to the nearby ledge we can climb up onto. Grab the basket of Herbs and the Ammo if required before climbing up to the platform on the left.
At the top you'll be attacked by a wolf and two ranged attackers. Get the wolf down ASAP before killing the two bowmen. This area provides two options; we can climb up to the upper level or go through the doorway to the left for some Ammo and Herbs before taking a ladder up.
Kill the three ranged attackers and the melee fellow before using your usual tactic to damage the witch. After damaging the Witch, slide down the zip line to the right to reach the platform below.
Kill the melee attacker that charges you as you land. Enter the passage that the enemy emerged from and use the pair of scalable walls located inside to reach the next platform above.
As Lara pulls herself up, head to the right and scramble up to the next ledge. You'll probably get knocked down on the first attempt — if so simply climb up again.
Interact with the valve on the pipe to the left, near the edge of the cliff. This will trigger a little transformation in the room. Large floating platforms will appear and start rotating in a clockwise pattern.
Hop on one of these and ride it to the second platform on the left pretty much directly opposite where we hopped on the platform. Kill the ranged attacker here and use the piece of cover to eliminate another pair of archers on the platform above.
When it is clear, note the pair of hanging platforms against the wall here — we'll need to utilize these to reach the next ledge above.
Jump on the first one to have it lower and the second one rise slightly. When they are in a good position for reaching the far ledge, jump to the second and then jump over and scramble up the wall behind it to climb up.
The lever mechanism for this vat is on the wooden walkway below and to the left of the vat. Use the usual method to damage the witch again at this point.
Once you have expended the vat, use your Rope Arrows to remove the wooden blockage to the left of the lever and follow the passage to the end.
Interact with the valve here to spawn additional level of floating platforms near the top of the room.
Doing this will of course also trigger enemies to spawn on a platform across the room. This platform is where we need to go to continue.
Use the floating platforms to reach their position and fight them off. There are four archers and two melee fighters here.
Climb up the walls at the back of the room to reach the walkway above. Follow it into the centre of the room.
Here we'll be able to jump to the upper level of floating platforms. Ride these around to the balcony opposite, whilst using the cover to take out the pair of Archers as you go.
Hop up to the walkway the Archers were defending and prepare for a fight. There are a large number of Archers and melee attackers here along with several Wolves.
You should be familiar with what you need to do at this point. So use the usual method to damage the Witch one final time. Note that you'll need to shoot the Witch several times as the rope spool pulls her in this time around, a prospect which is made trickier by all of the flying debris.
Note: For defeating the Witch, you'll be rewarded with a new Bow — Dreamstinger. Note: For defeating the Witch, you'll be rewarded with a new Outfit - Wraithskin.
Climb down the stairs behind Nadia to enter the cave once again. Swim along the passage here and keep your eyes on the left wall to find a small side-room.
Return to the room with Nadia and you should notice that there is now an accessible set of stairs leading upwards. Head out the other door and jump into the water.
Swim over to the floating wooden pallet and use it to climb up to the platform above. Find the door here leading into a cave-type area.
Return to the main room and follow the walkway to the right and remove the Rope covered barricade at the end. Jump back down to the previous platform, run back past the cave we just looted and continue to the far end.
Use your Rope Arrows to remove the blockage. Enter the passage on the left and use the pair of scalable walls located inside to reach the next platform above.
At the top, look for the hanging beam and use Lara's grapple axes to swing to the far side. Swing back across the gap and climb the wall to the right.
At the top, there is a barred gate to the right. Hop on one of the hanging platforms and ride it around until you can jump into the small room for the pickup.
Jump back out onto one of the hanging platforms and use it to reach the platform with the vat on it. High up on the wall behind the vat is an opening that we can climb up to.
Drop back down to the vat area. Take another hanging platform and ride it to the direct, opposite side of the room and hop off.
Scramble up the wall at the left hand end to reach a second vat. Behind this is a spinning rope spool. Stand next to this and look ahead to spot a second rope spool on a platform high above.
Unfortunately, reaching said platform can be a little tricky as the timing is very tight so you'll need to pretty much flawlessly sprint and jump your way across two sets of hanging platforms until you reach the platform with the first vat, then climb the ramp at the back of this platform to the top before you can jump to the newly raised platform and then from there across to the platform with the collectible.
It's definitely doable, but don't be disheartened if you can't do it right away - it's going to take you a couple of tries to get the route and the timing down.
The final two collectibles in this area can be found on the upper level. Climb to the top of the room via the ramp by the first vat platform and use the hanging platforms to reach the opposite side.
On this balcony are there is the final vat we used to defeat the Witch. Drop back down to the main platform and find the doorway next to the vat.
Drop down to the lower level inside to find an Archivist's Map. Use your rope Arrows to pull down the blockage here and return to the entrance to the cave.
At this point we are pretty much done with the DLC. So head back to your nearest Base Camp to fast travel out of there!
The Baba Yaga DLC for Rise of the Tomb Raider has a total of 22 Achievements in the Xbox One version and 15 Achievements in the Xbox version.
As there is a bit of information to scroll through, please use the below hyperlink shortcuts to navigate the below section more quickly:. As these contain plot elements, I have left off the descriptions to avoid potential spoilers.
These collectibles mirror those in the base game and include: Relics, Documents and Survival Caches.
Note every collectible and area challenge item location is obtainable before the end of DLC, but you are free to explore following the final mission so there is no need to worry about missing anything!
As with the base game, Expedition Mode focuses on replaying segments of the campaign whilst attempting to earn medals for reaching benchmark high scores and challenge the world with the global leader boards.
It features additional challenges which you can undertake to make things more interesting as well as collect and utilise hundreds of Expedition Cards which can be activate to modify the game in a variety of ways.
In addition to the platforming and occasional spell of problem solving, The Baba Yaga DLC, much like the base game in Rise of the Tomb Raider also has a fairly big focus on it's combat system.
Try to get them all in one trip if possible, to avoid triggering the bug mentioned above. These screenshots can help.
NOTE: If you jump off the gondola and die before reaching the end of the ride, you'll unlock the Henny Penny Achievement.
The game should then reload at the checkpoint before the ride so you'll have another chance to shoot the lanterns. NOTE: The lever controls the gondola, but it doesn't work yet, but you will be able to restart the gondola and ride back to the other end of the canyon after defeating the witch.
If you missed any of the lanterns, you'll be able to destroy them then. As you approach the archway leading inside, Lara discovers Nadia's grandfather sitting beside the Witch's Cave Base Camp.
Nadia gives him some of the antidote and offers to stay with him while Lara goes inside. BUG NOTE: Make sure to use the base camp to activate it.
This will allow you to fast travel back here later if necessary. Occasionally the levers that call the gondola will glitch and you will be unable to call the gondola back to the starting point.
So even if you fast travel to the Wicked Vale Base camp, there will be no way to return to this end of the canyon. You can then reload this save, fast travel out and continue the main story, then return here later when you're stronger and better equipped.
It is Among the Remnant from Nadia's Grandfather's Journal Russian. Have a look before heading up the stairs into the ruins.
Drop into the water and follow the flooded passageway to a large arena. On the way, Lara begins to breathe in more of the hallucinogenic pollen.
As you climb out of the water in a huge, round room, a cutscene kicks in. Lara is about to take the last dose of the antidote when a grenade lands next to her.
Thrown off balance, she loses her grip on the bottle, and it shatters just as the witch emerges from the pool. You must now face BABA YAGA and her minions, the former Bravo Team , without the aid of clear vision.
NOTE: Just like the first time you entered the Vale, there are collectibles in this area, but you can't get them until later when the effects of the pollen wear off.
BOSS FIGHT - LOWER LEVEL: You can't hurt the witch by shooting at her, nor destroy the hovering cauldron in which she rides, so you'll need to defeat her indirectly using a series of distilling vats like the one you used to blast open the gate earlier.
The first vat , labeled A on the annotated level map , is here where you climbed out of the water. First deal with the witch's minions , who drop down from the ledge on the southwest side of the room and try to flank you.
There are 5 enemies in this first group: 3 archers and 2 with knives. They behave very much like the Deathless warriors in the later levels of the main game.
So if you played through the story before tackling this DLC, you'll be familiar with their tactics. The archers use fire arrows and tend to sneak up gradually while taking occasional potshots.
Use your rifle or bow to pick them off. Now do your best to avoid the witch's fireballs as you work the vat and lever just like you did back in the canyon near the beginning of the level.
First, stand near the spinning rope spool and shoot the witch herself with a regular arrow. This won't do any damage, but it will make her duck down in the cauldron so she can no longer hurl fireballs.
Quickly shoot the lower part of the cauldron , which is wrapped in rope. This will tether the cauldron to the spool, gradually pulling the cauldron in toward the distilling vat.
While this is happening, move close to the handle on the right side of the vat. Shoot the witch again to make her duck down. Otherwise, she'll cut the rope and you'll have to start over again.
This opens the vat, and the resulting explosion blasts the witch across the room. Loot the packs the witch's minions leave behind for ammo and other supplies.
Then jump across the water to the far right southwest side of the room. Here you'll find the second vat marked B on the map. Notice that the lever that opens this vat is a bit farther away.
So stand on the side of the spool nearer the lever. Then turn around to face the witch. Shoot at her to make her duck down inside her cauldron.
Then shoot the cauldron with a rope arrow to attach it to the spool. Shoot the witch again to prevent her from cutting the rope as the spool draws the cauldron in.
While this is happening, move toward the lever. Then, when the cauldron is close enough to the vat, pull the lever to open the vat and blast the witch across the room again.
Now the water level begins to rise. Swim across the pool and climb out on the southern ledge. Grab some herbs , plus boxes of pistol and rifle ammo directly ahead and in the alcove on the right.
Then scramble up onto the ledge on the left and fight a wolf , a knife-wielding warrior , and 2 archers. Loot their packs and pick up more pistol ammo.
Then climb into the archway to the east and fight 3 more archers and a swordsman. BOSS FIGHT - MIDDLE LEVEL: The third distilling vat labeled C on the map is here, at the top of the stairs.
On the ledge above and behind the vat, spool, and lever there's a box of cloth and a hole in the floor , which you should try to avoid for now.
There's a ladder inside the hole in case you fall in accidentally, but wait to explore there until we can see clearly.
Stand by the spool and repeat the process of dragging the witch toward the vat and pulling the lever to open the lid and catch her in the explosion.
Now, continue making your way around the room counterclockwise by sliding down the zip line to the right of the third vat. Take out another swordsman and pick up more cloth here if you need it.
The walkway directly ahead is blocked by a wooden barrier. So move into the alcove on the right. Grab some ammo and magnesite and then climb the rough walls to the ledge above on the right.
If you fall into the water you won't be able to climb out on the ledge where you started, but you can swim to the base of the climbing wall on the right and latch on with your axes.
At the top, turn right, pick up some loose feathers , and then scramble up the painted wooden wall.
Immediately drop back to avoid one of the witch's fireballs. Pull up again, move forward, grab some pistol ammo , and use your axe to pry the hook off the gear mechanism on the left side of the wooden ledge.
This activates a series of moving platforms that begin to circle the arena. Jump onto one of them and ride around to the wooden ledge on the far side of the room.
Shoot the archer waiting on the ledge as you approach. Then jump over to where he was standing, run forward, and take cover behind the low stone wall on the right.
From here you can pick off 2 more archers on the ledge above. Gather ammo and hardwood. Then use the 2 dangling platforms to jump across to the ledge where the archers were standing.
You'll need to jump onto the first platform, wait just briefly for it to descend, rasing the platform in front of it. Then jump onto the second platform and scramble up the wall ahead.
If you fall, you can work your way back around to this point or just reload the checkpoint, which should put you back at the mechanism that activates the moving stone platforms.
As soon as you climb onto the ledge above the dangling platforms, pull out the shotgun and kill another charging swordsman.
Search the packs the enemies dropped and gather more ammo and supplies. Then turn your attention to the fourth vat marked D on the map.
The process is basically the same as for the others except that the lever that opens this vat is located on the ledge below on the left.
Stand by the rope spool. Shoot the witch to make her duck. Shoot the cauldron with a rope arrow to attach it to the spool.
Shoot the witch again to prevent her from cutting the rope as the winch draws her in. Jump down to the lever. Shoot the witch again so she doesn't cut the rope.
If she does, you'll need to scramble back up to the vat and spool to try again. When the cauldron is positioned over the vat, pull the lever to cause another explosion.
After this, Nadia contacts Lara by radio. She drops the news we've probably all suspected, but this doesn't affect your mission.
You still need to defeat the witch. Pick up some loose feathers lying near the rope-wrapped barrier and use a rope arrow to pull it down. Go through, get some ammo and herbs , and then use your axe to activate another mechanism.
This adds a second set of platforms to the ones already circling the room. Before going any farther, take out an archer who spawns on the far side of the room.
Then jump onto one of the platforms as it moves past, ride it around to the northeast side of the room, and jump onto the ledge there.
This is the same one with the third vat marked C on the map. Since you've already used this vat, it no longer works, but you will need to fight 2 more archers and 3 swordsmen before you can move on.
There are several stone blocks you can use for cover, in addition to the vat and lever. Just watch out for the hole in the floor on the upper ledge.
When you've taken care of these enemies, loot their packs , climb onto the elevated wooden walkway, and follow it to the upper end. This walkway is shown on the level map running from the east wall out toward the middle of the room.
BOSS FIGHT - UPPER LEVEL: Jump onto one of the moving platforms here on the highest level and ride it around to the ledge on the opposite side of the room.
Try to pick off 2 enemy archers as you approach. Jump onto the left end of the ledge where they were standing. Then take cover as more of the witch's minions— 2 wolves , 2 swordsmen , and 3 more archers —approach from the right.
Hang in there! We're nearly done. Move forward, searching the enemies' packs and picking up ammo and supplies as you go.
At the end of this ledge is the fifth and final vat marked E on the map. The process here is the same as for the other vats.
The only complications are the witch's fireballs and the chunks of debris floating in the air, which can prevent you from targeting her. Just be patient.
Stand near the spool and shoot the witch to make her duck. Shoot the cauldron with a rope arrow to tether it to the spool.
Switch weapons if you like and continue shooting the witch so she doesn't cut the rope as she's being pulled in toward the vat. Meanwhile, move toward the handle.
When the cauldron is above the vat , release the Aim button and pull the handle. Game over for Baba Yaga.
EXPLORING AFTER THE WITCH IS DEFEATED: After a cutscene with a touching family reunion, you're back in the round room near the Witch's Cave Base Camp.
If you equip these two together, you'll unlock the Witch's Wardrobe Achievement. Now you can re-enter the ruins for the collectibles you couldn't get while Lara was tripping balls.
Start by approaching Nadia and talking to her to unlock another easy Achievement: Fond Farewell. Head down the stairs near the dead soldier and swim along the flooded passageway.
I assume this is a nod to the Holy Grail scene in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Return along the flooded passage to the round room where Nadia is waiting.
Then head up the stairs to another round room. Pick up the ammo but ignore the ladder leading up to the next level for now. Instead, go through the doorway to the south into the big room where you fought the witch.
Jump into the pool, swim across to the floating pallet on the west side, and climb out there. You'll also find various boxes of ammo and cloth , baskets of herbs , lumps of magnesite , etc.
I won't list every possible pickup. Stay alert and take what you can carry. Exit the alcove where you found the satchel and pull down the rope barrier on the right.
For now it's enough to remove the barrier and dig up the cache. Return to the curved walkway and follow it past the side passage where you found the satchel.
Pull down another rope barrier. Continue forward to the next side passage on the left. Go in there and scale the climbing walls to the ledge at the upper right.
Then scramble up into the opening on the right. NOTE: There's a survival cache indicated on the map just to the left of this document, but it's actually high above.
We'll get to it shortly. You're now overlooking the large, round room. The mechanism you used to activate the first set of moving platforms during the fight is here, and those platforms are directly ahead.
If you look through the bars on the right you'll see another document. From here, jump back onto one of the moving platforms and ride it around to the ledge with the vat on the northeast side of the room C on the map.
TIMED RUN FOR THE FINAL DOCUMENT: Next comes the most challenging pickup in this area. The last document is located on the high ledge on the south side of the room.
Getting there is tricky and may take several tries. Start by riding one of the moving platforms around to the ledge just below the fourth vat D on the map.
If you climb up onto the vat and look to the southeast, you'll see 5 dangling platforms , a set of 3 off to the left and a set of 2 on the right.
The ledge with the document is above and between these sets of platforms. While you're standing on the vat, notice how one of the 3 revolving platforms here on the upper level hangs a little lower than the others.
This is important, as you'll need to jump from the vat to grab that platform shortly. Here's the sequence: Stand near the spinning rope spool and wait for the lower of the 3 revolving platforms to move around toward the tall, light-colored stone ledge on the east side of the room.
When it does, shoot a rope arrow into the spool above on the right in order to attach it to the spinning spool next to you. This raises one of the dangling platform s off to the right.
It only stays up for about 30 seconds , so you'll need to hustle. This sequence is shown in a series of screenshots and in this short video walkthrough.
Don't even wait for the platform to rise. As the lower of the 3 revolving platforms moves past, jump forward to grab it and pull up.
Ride the platform around to the east side of the room and jump to grab the tall, light-colored stone ledge. Remember to hold the Jump button for the most air time.
Pull up onto the ledge. Then sprint and jump off the right side to reach the dangling platform, which should still be raised.
Run or sprint forward, jump off the edge of the platform, and either grab the ledge ahead or use your grapple to catch onto it.
It is Not Worth Living from the series Dreams in the Witch House Russian. If you're too slow and the platform sinks before you can jump across, or if you fall while attempting any of the jumps, climb back up to the spool near the fourth vat and try again.
It's a challenge, for sure, but you'll get it. After obtaining the last document, drop down onto the wooden ledge below. Turn left and hop across the 2 dangling platforms to get back to the fourth vat D on the map.
Ride around just a little bit and jump over to the yellow ledge on the west side of the room. Now head past the fifth spool and vat E on the map to the doorway at the north end of the walkway.
Use a rope arrow to pull down the barrier and go through to emerge near the third vat C on the map. If you're done exploring, you can drop through the hole in the floor behind the vat to get back to the round room where you found the relic.
From there, follow the northeast passageway to get back to Nadia and the exit to the canyon area with the Witch's Cave Base Camp and the gondola.Baba Yaga is a mythological figure in the Slavic nations. She continues the tale of her grandparents and the witch, who apparently lives in a house that roams the forest on bird legs. If you've heard the Russian folktale Baba Yaga, this will sound familiar. A bit farther along, Nadia relays a transmission from some Trinity soldiers who seem to be under attack by the witch.
